LEGACY'S BACKGROUND

Legacy Academy of Dance and Performing Arts Limited was established in 2018 by sisters Charlotte and Stephanie, both with a lifetime of backgrounds in the performing arts world, and a passion to always build a family run and family orientated Dance and Performing Arts school to share their knowledge and love, and to inspire every student.

Charlotte Louise Ward: Director, Principal, Head of Dance & Acrobatics

Miss Charlotte is Principal and Head of Dance & Acrobatics, specialising in all dance genres across the Performing Arts industry and is fully qualified in all subjects including Classical Ballet, Modern Jazz, Tap, Acrobatics, Contemporary & Lyrical. Charlotte has danced and performed from the age of three, following and progressing through the Royal Academy of Dance, and British Theatre Dance Association training and examinations always completing with top results and achievements throughout with pure dedication and passion towards the arts. As soon as Charlotte was able to assist in classes and teach students age 2 and above, her commitment and drive allowed her to pursue her chosen career in becoming a professional fully qualified dance teacher. All further education, performances, workshops, and over 15 years of teaching experiences in all aspects of the Performing Arts industry, alongside her love and enthusiasm for teaching students of all ages, allowed Charlotte to be as successful as she was in her Dance teaching qualification, completing it to the highest level with marks of 100% Distinction overall. This is passed onto each and every student, giving them the best possible experiences, with 100% pass rates with top results in all vocational and performance examinations she has put them in for, alongside giving each individual student full devotion, passion for the arts, and enjoyment in class, inspiring all.

Stephanie Marie Walker: Vice Principal, Head of Performing Arts

Miss Stephanie is Head of Performing Arts, specialising in: Musical Theatre, Drama, Singing & Dance. Stephanie started dancing at the age of three years old. Her love of the arts inspired her to pursue a career in the performing arts industry. She has had many years of professional performance and teaching experience in all subjects of the performing arts sector, holding lead roles in professional shows, pantomimes & companies. Graduating with a BA Hons degree in performing arts with a First Class Honours, and is due to complete her PGCE this year. She has taught the subjects of performing arts to a varied range of ages in Secondary schools, colleges, and private performing art schools KS3,KS4, KS5 Drama & Dance, BTEC Performing Arts & BTEC Dance. She has achieved many Vocational qualifications to the highest level of achievement throughout her training and has also taught and assisted in classes teaching under the associations of British Theatre Dance Association, Royal Academy of Dance and L.A.M.D.A.

A family run, fully accredited Dance & Performing Arts Academy under BTDA, Acrobatic Arts, Acrotrix, iD-Company, Progressing Ballet Technique, & LAMDA for all ages! Giving the very best & enjoyable training!

Miss Charlotte and Miss Stephanie were so excited to open their very own family run Dance and Performing Arts Academy in September 2018, which has successfully grown to a family of over 250 students. Their passion and dedication for every student is shown through Legacy's excellent, professionally run, enjoyable classes for all ages, and abilities. Legacy's faculty have an entire list of achievements and professional qualifications, offering the very best training and experiences to all.

Legacy Academy’s classes focus on building confidence, technique, performance skills, discipline, support, opportunities, personal development, accomplishments, individual and team achievements, respect, rhythm, co-ordination, pathways, the list is endless, but not forgetting the most important, to build passion for the arts, friendships, and memories that will last a lifetime.

Classes that are available: Classical Ballet, Pointe, Modern Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Contemporary, Commercial, Street Dance, Acrobatics, Nursery, Rose, Singing, Drama, Musical Theatre, Performers, and an extra special invitation only class ‘Legacy Elite Performers’.

Toddler Classes: Sensory Dance, Gym Tots, Mini Performers, Nursery & Rose Ballet, Jazz, and Tap.

Adult Classes: Dance Fit, Tap & Ballet Fit. Something for everyone! 

Legacy Academy offer those who want to partake in examinations and progression routes, regular opportunities to succeed in graded, vocational, and performance examinations under: BTDA (British Theatre Dance Association), Acrobatic Arts, Acrotrix, iD-Company, & LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) , and also full teaching qualifications under BTDA. These examination boards are under GQAL, giving students accredited results, also offering UCAS points for further education applications. 

 

Legacy also provides all students regular opportunities to perform in shows, competitions, festivals, charity events, community events, giving great experiences all round.
